Province maps are computed from two different ocean color and sea surface temperature data sets:
Data are provided as png images and raw binary files.
The graphical maps (png images) are available in Eckert, Mollweide, and Miller cylindrical projections. The animations are Eckert projections. See Proj4 for more information.
The binary files are 1080×540 pixels starting at 90S 180W and increasing Eastward first, then Northward.
In addition to the data above, you can read a description of the methods and obtain the clustering of the source data which you can easily apply to your own data.
